元首华诞

五大公共假期之一元首华诞必须让雇员休假

（吉隆坡4日讯）人力资源部指出，本月9日的国家元首华诞是五大公共假期之一，必须要让雇员享有当天假期。

该部发表文告指出，1955年劳工法令第60D（1）（a）（ii）条文已阐明上述事项，该公期不能补在另一天。

人力资源部是针对人民，尤其是雇主及私人界员工，对7月30日（星期二）为第16任国家元首苏丹阿都拉陛下的登基仪式，享有全国特别公共假，与落在本月9日的国家元首华诞假期引起的混淆，作出解释。

该部续说，政府早前已宣布7月30日为全国特别公共假期，私人界雇主须为雇员提供额外的公假。

它说，政府是依据1951年公共假期法令（369法令）第8条文，将7月30日列为西马及纳闽直辖区的公假；沙巴和砂拉越则配合本身的州法律条文，作出各自安排。

该部强调，该公假是按照1955年劳工法令第60D（1）（b）条文作出颁布，以将此日子列为私人界雇员公假。

它说，配合这项公假是属于有薪假期，雇主若要雇员当天工作，须为他们补回一天的假期，而所有雇主有必要通知雇员，是否要在7月30日放假，或工作则须补回一天假期。
