你知道生意人，做什么样的生意最容易成功吗？
说到TUMI这个牌子，相信只要是白领一族或是商人，都不会感到陌生。
这个牌子给人最深的印象，就是以高档、耐用、多功能而著称的商务包。由于其尼龙材质十分耐磨，可供高频出差的商务人士使用5到10年。这是其他同类产品望尘莫及的，从而也确立了TUMI在市场的领先地位。
而TUMI这个品牌的创办人，其实是曾驻守南美洲的美国和平部队成员——查理克里夫（Charlie Clifford）。
1975年1万美元创业
查理克里夫于1975年和一名伙伴以1万美元（约4.53万令吉）资金，联合创办一家皮革制品进口商。那时他的目标是致力于为各地终日奔波的人士提供完美的旅行产品。随着品牌日渐扩大，查理克里夫在90年代开始进军欧洲，并在后来大举进军亚太市场。截至2007年，TUMI在超过30个国家已经拥有50家销售网点。
TUMI集团于2012年4月在纽约股票交易所上市。开盘第一天，每股价格从发售价18美元（约81.60令吉）飙涨逾60%至29.10美元（约132令吉）收盘，表现非常不错。也因为如此，TUMI一上市就募得3亿3800万美元（约15.3亿令吉），公司市值瞬间高达17.9亿美元（约81亿令吉）。
不过，查理克里夫早在2004年就已宣布退休，离开了TUMI管理层。
创办新行李箱品牌
离开TUMI后的查理克里夫，于2018年和TUMI的前执行副主席拉里（Larry Lein）利用两人在行李箱领域的专业知识，联合创办了一家新的高端行李箱品牌——ROAM。
与TUMI有所不同的是，ROAM是一个能让客户客制化行李箱的品牌。
查理克里夫曾说：“有别于TUMI的招牌黑色设计，ROAM的行李颜色更多元化，也更鲜艳。客户能根据自己的需求和喜好，让我们为你们量身打造最具个人特色的行李箱。”
对此，不少美国媒体都对ROAM品牌赞誉有加。其中财经杂志《福布斯》更称赞说，ROAM是一家极具前景的行李箱公司，未来有望颠覆整个领域。
