在C罗的专访中，他指责前主帅朗尼克：“如果你连教练都不是，你怎么能成为曼联的主帅？ 我甚至都没听说过他。”可以说，C罗在专访中用如此缺乏尊重的言论评价前任主帅，确实有些过分。
但针对C罗的言论，朗尼克在对阵安道尔的赛前新闻发布会上进行了回应，他说道：“我现在是奥地利国家队的主教练，我的工作不是评价他的言论，这是曼联以及体育记者们的工作。”
显然，朗尼克认为，自己已经和曼联与C罗都不再有交集，这些纷争他不想参合。至于C罗质疑他执教水平，朗尼克直接说出自己是“奥地利国家队主帅”便是最无声的回击。
