据美国第七舰队公共事务处报道，美国海军第七舰队的阿利-伯克级（Arleigh Burke）导弹驱逐舰希金斯号（DDG 76）与加拿大皇家海军哈利法克斯（Halifax）级护卫舰HMCS温哥华号（FFH 331）合作，于9月20日（当地时间）在根据国际法适用公海航行和飞越自由的水域进行了例行的台湾海峡穿越。
该消息强调说，这两艘船舰通过了台湾海峡中超出任何沿海国家领海的一条走廊。
