患罕见病 过度排卵 女子狂生44孩子
（坎帕拉25日综合电）东非乌干达有一名女子玛莉姆在过去生了44个孩子，却被医生警告如果停止生育，可能会产生严重的健康问题，因此只能“继续生”，让人大开眼界。
玛莉姆在12岁时结婚，父母为了嫁妆把她卖给一名40岁男子，不久就怀孕，在13岁生下第一个孩子，随后陆续生了4对双胞胎、5对三胞胎、5对四胞胎，然而44个孩子中有6个死亡。

更悲伤的是，丈夫抛弃她，拿走家里的钱离开，留下她和38个孩子，分别是20个男孩和18个女孩，靠她一个人抚养。
玛莉姆曾到诊所求诊，医生表示她的卵巢异常地大，导致“过度排卵”的情况，而且节育没有效果，还可能演变成严重的健康问题。
位于坎帕拉医院的妇产科医生查尔斯指出，玛莉姆疯狂生孩子最有可能的原因是遗传，“她的情况是一种过度排卵的遗传，在一个周期内释放多个卵子，增加了怀多胞胎的机会”。
动手术摘除子宫
玛莉姆在40岁时生产后，决定停止生育，便到医院进行手术，将子宫给摘除，好一劳永逸。
她透过翻译者向电影制片人乔透露，在丈夫离开他们后，一名好心的女人捐赠一些双人床，但仍然十分拥挤，“一个房间有12个人，2个人挤在一张床垫上”，谈到丈夫她只有满满的咒骂，“我是哭着长大的，那个男人让我经历了很多痛苦”。
玛莉姆将所有时间都花在照顾孩子及工作赚钱上，竭尽所能提供孩子食物，赚的钱被吃饭、买衣服、看病和上学给用完了，整个人被工作压垮，孩子们会尽可能帮忙，像是做饭和洗衣，但家庭的主要负担仍在她身上，令人深感同情。
