美国进入新冠后疫情时代，是否要打疫苗加强针成为当前热门话题。新冠防疫和大流行病专家1日提出共同的观点，认为65岁以上、免疫力较低人群、医疗一线接触病毒的高危工作人群，都应该接种加强针。但高龄及高危险之外的群体是否也应该接种加强针，专家们则有不同意见。
少数族裔媒体中心1日聘请德州农工大学全球健康研究中心（the Global Health Research Complex at Texas A&M University）主任Ben Neuman（图）和旧金山加大医学院（UC San Francisco’s School of Medicine）流行病专家Monica Gandhi，分享接种新冠疫苗加强针的必要性观点。
两位专家表示，新冠疫情在经历将近两年之后，依然在持续当中。迄今尚不知道新冠会继续将大家带到哪里，那些情况可能继续恶化，或那些情况不会发生。从目前情况看，新冠疫情作为大流行大传染病，没有办法预防和根治，该病毒可能永远会有致死性。相关数据显示，新冠重症的致死率通常在2%左右，50个重症感染人群中有一人会死亡。
