大年初四，台湾彰化县和美镇嘉卿路1段，凌晨1点30分左右，发生BMW轿车撞护栏的死亡车祸，造成驾驶和副驾驶抛飞车外当场惨死，后方乘客受伤，2死1伤，肇祸原因正由警方调查厘清中。
警方初步根据受轻伤的乘客说法，当时，BMW车主兼驾驶27岁的周男（云林人），载着副驾驶23岁的詹男（台中人，职业军人）和后方乘客杜男，从杜男和美住家外出，试BMW车子性能，怎知，出门没多久，车子行经嘉卿路段过转弯处发生擦撞护栏意外，意外来的非常突然，怎么发生的？还要调查。
警方初步研判，BMW轿车行经道路过弯处车子突然失控自撞护栏，驾驶周男和副驾驶詹男抛飞出车外当场死亡，后方乘客杜男轻伤送医治疗，杜男有酒精反应，驾驶和副驾驶因已死亡要等抽血检验，目前还不清楚。
家属向警方供称，周男和詹男来杜家拜访聚会，临时提议要试车，3人才搭乘周男的轿车外出。
