（莫斯科11日综合电）俄罗斯科学家近期在北部卡拉海沿岸，发现一大群大西洋海象群聚在陆地上进行着社交活动。科学家指出这可能是海象数量正在恢复的信号，令人鼓舞。
该海滩位于俄罗斯亚马尔半岛的一个偏僻角落，研究人员发现有3000多只海象挤在这里，而近几十年来，该地区只发现过数十只大西洋海象。
海象的这种行为称为”Haul-out”，指海豹、海狮和海象等暂时离开水中，通常发生在觅食期间，为了繁殖和休息等原因，将自己拖行到陆地或海冰上。
海象”Haul-out”通常出现在漂流的海冰或北极岛屿上，但由于全球气候暖化造成海冰缩小，此外海象的栖息地也受到油气勘探及北极海运量增加的威胁。
