新加坡至少有3名孕妇感染冠状病毒，但她们的宝宝都还没出世，暂时还不知冠病会否影响胎儿。
《联合早报》从一篇新加坡国立大学医院发表于美国国立医学图书馆的PubMed医学文献中发现，新加坡孕妇病例数据首次公开。报告指出，新加坡自疫情从1月23日暴发至3月25日，共有3名孕妇确诊。当时的确诊病例总数为631起。
竹脚妇幼医院妇产科系主席陈学崑副教授答复《联合早报》询问时透露，由于所有的新加坡孕妇病例都还没有产下宝宝，因此对于胎儿会如何受冠病影响，暂时没有相关经验和数据。
新加坡有3家公共医院提供妇产科服务，包括竹脚妇幼医院和新加坡中央医院，这些医院都在前线检测和治疗可疑或确诊的孕妇病例。然而，医院并没透露新加坡目前共有几名孕妇感染冠病。
全球对于染病孕妇的认识非常有限，目前国际没有研究报告针对孕前期（first trimester）和孕中期（second trimester）染病的孕妇病例，无法断定冠病对于这两个阶段为孕妇带来的流产或胎儿先天性畸形风险。
但陈学崑透露，国外有一篇针对9名感染冠病的孕后期（third trimester）孕妇研究报告，她们都通过剖腹生产，而证据显示，她们没有通过子宫把病毒传染给胎儿，当中没有出现死胎，产妇的初乳也没有验出病毒。
国大医院妇产科部门高级顾问医生苏琳琳副教授也指出，目前没证据显示冠病病毒会导致胎儿异常。
感染冠病的孕妇并非一定得剖腹生产，陈学崑说，这仍得看孕妇的个别情况。但国大医院这篇研究报告指出，碰到冠病孕妇时，得降低进行剖腹生产的门槛，以确保更能符合病毒管控措施，减少病毒传播。
尽管目前证据显示，病毒不会通过产妇的子宫传染给胎儿，但产妇分娩后，仍可通过飞沫传染给新生婴儿，因此孕妇产前产后都得注意个人卫生和预防措施等。
国大医院在研究报告中便列下一系列注意事项和流程，包括安排冠病孕妇在负压手术室生产、生产后避免让母子肌肤接触和避免延迟剪脐带等。孕妇是否能安全哺乳则还无法确定。竹脚妇幼医院也会在隔离房照顾这些病患，他们的医疗团队只专门照顾冠病病患，避免交叉感染。
至于孕妇的病情是否会更严重，苏琳琳说，现有证据显示年长者和慢性疾病病患的病情更可能恶化，而孕妇通常年轻且健康，一般会在感染病毒后康复，但一小部分的人病情可能会严重。
目前没有证据显示孕妇病例的病情更可能恶化，或孕妇更可能染病。但一般而言，孕妇的免疫系统会有所改变，因此面对流行性感冒和沙斯病毒时有更高风险。
受访医生因此都建议，孕妇得积极采取预防措施减低感染病毒的风险，包括与有症状者保持距离、避开人潮、生病时马上求医，以及勤洗手等。
